Fabulation

Fabulation is a word. It's about inventing fabulous tales. I like to fabulate. I misuse the term to describe household projects. This is a towel rack I made for my new bathroom.

When I "fabulate," I reject going to the hardware store. These days I make lights, and towel racks, and furniture etc. out of stuff I have lying around.

When I was in the art business I used to have a relationship with a shop in Baltimore called Mud and Metal. Their slogan was "Art to Live With." I loved that. I borrowed from it when I was operating Moncure Chessworks. That's when I made a lot of chess sets. My bumper stickers read: "Art to Play With."

I'm at the end of a house addition. My 400 square foot abode has blown up to 900 square feet. Which means I need new cabinets, lights, shelves--all the finishing touches that make a place perfect. For that I fabulate, with a strict adherence to buying nothing...
